Question? Originality aside, what is the difference between 4 and 5 rear leaf springs? I'm building a clone, so all things being equal, which would be the better set to install? Are we just talking about a stiffer spring rate? After having someone look at my rearend last night (Thanks backfire!!), it appears I have mono leaf springs installed in multi leaf perches. I'm going to take some pictures to make sure, but it makes alot of sense now. I've got a 12 bolt rearend, and there are spacers in between the mono leaf and the perch, and the only thing that makes sense is that the rearend was changed and the monos were swapped in at that time. What do you think, the price is the same, 4 leafs replacements or 5????????? KZ

I've talked to Eaton Detroit Spring about this issue on my 67. My car will be stock height with a big block, so I bought a set of Eaton front coils. They recommended the 4-leaf setup for the rear for my particular car, but your situation maybe different. I'd talk to Eaton or Landrum Spring and get their thoughts.

John,

I removed a leaf from my camaro 5 leaf packs and did it ever make a difference in the way the car launches. it squats so much that it just rolls back on the back tires and almost lifts the fronts just from this motion.
I have been talking to another guy whom posted the same question and has since written me an E-MAIL, I sent him an article on a 5 leaf set-up from another company, if you want I'll send it your way also(it just takes a while to load)
