I am looking at adding power brakes to my 69 drum/drum camaro and was wanted to make sure that I had all the facts straight. I have found a couple of booster/master cylinder combo's on ebay that are universal/hot rod brake boosters. Since I only have drum/drum brakes, can I use one of these boosters and just plum the lines directly to the master cylinder?

Are there any additional parts that I will need if I decide to go with a univeral booster? Anything I should look out for, I seem to remember something about the booster rod not being long enough to reach a brake pedal in an article i read a while ago, but i can remember if that was a disc. brake conversion or not.

Thanks

They do make a couple rod lengths for the boosters depending on the master used. I'm going to move this to the brake section, there'll be more brake guys hanging over there.

Before buying anything on ebay, check with a local auto parts store. I bought a rebuilt Delco booster for a 69 camaro from a local parts store. All I had to do was paint it. You could probably find a new master for power drum brakes too. If you put on a power booster, most likely your brake lines will not reach the distribution block under the master cylinder since it will be pushed forward. Unless you have fairly new brake lines, I would get new prebent lines. I ordered mine from Right Stuff. Also, you will need the hose to connect the power booster to the back of the manifold and adapter for the manifold.
