Hello
Could someone tell me the distance between bolt hole centres for 1968 multileaf rear shackels and the size of the material used.

From an old posting of mine after measuring ones from my 67 with monoleaf. The 68 multileaf should be the same, I believe:
http://www.camaros.net/cgi-bin/forum/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/7/2542.html?
Rear shackle overall length 5 3/8", width 2 1/4", thickness of metal 5/32". Center to center of holes 3 1/8". One hole is 7/16" round, the other holes is 5/8" square to accept the square part of the carriage bolt near the head.
Both the bottom and top of the shackle have a rounded end. The radius appears to be 1 1/2" for this rounded curve. The shackle also has a 1 1/2" dimple depression on both ends to accept or press up against the bushing.
Bonecrusher, thanks for posting the dimensions. I looked around for plates I thought I have and couldn't find them.
I do have one recommendation on a dimension change. Increase the bolt centers to 3-3/8" from the 3-1/8" spec. The reason for this is clearance between the spring eye and the frame rails.
Some aftermarket springs are a little thicker and will otherwise hit the frame rail. Makes an awful noise when they do that

Thanks for the specs. I may add a 1/4" to hole centres, when I bought new leaf springs from GM they offered quite a few listings (BB,SB,Z28,extra heavyduty, etc.)This was back in 1977 or 1978 in Canada. They are a thick stiff four leaf spring. The clamps that hold the springs together and in alignment are very beefy. Stiff springs but still a smooth ride. I'm sure they help the big block in cornering.
