View Full Version : Ball joints and tierods any difference? dukemd66 Nov 26th, 04, 07:13 AM Is their any difference in performance etc? Rick rando Nov 26th, 04, 09:39 AM Not sure about your question? What are you asking? dukemd66 Nov 26th, 04, 10:46 AM I have purchased the Hotchkis TVS. I am now in the process of buying new bushings etc. I was planning on buying the PST polygrahpite kit but I double up on some of the things ie swaybar bushings, stabilize connectors and tierod sleeves. I can purchase the control arm polygraphite bushings for $100. I can get the inner/outer tie rods and upper and lower ball joints for about 100 from the local auto store saving me about 100. But if the quality/performance of the ball joints tierods differ from what PST offer I want to make sure that I am not diminishing my "investment" by purchasing the balljoints etc locally. The PST site doesnt make the tierod balljoint sound special in anyway. Rick PDQUICK Nov 27th, 04, 05:58 AM The ball joints and rod ends in the PST kits are not "special in any way". I've installed a few complete kits for people but on my personal car I only used their bushings. The hard parts look to be Perfect Circle or imports?? Personally, I don't think they are of top quality. For my money, I would use Moog's stuff. It's worth the extra dollars. If you save $10 on a tie rod end and then crash your $25K ride b/c it breaks, that's not a good value! I have competition rubber and 600lb springs in my car and I occasionally race it so, the suspension and steering stuff takes a beating! You're application might be different. In some applications (Chevy Blazers, Olds Toronados etc...) where the car is heavy and the ball joints work hard, I have seen the Perfect Circle stuff wear out once a year!! graemlins/clonk.gif Paul D. dukemd66 Nov 27th, 04, 06:54 AM In addition to my TVS, PST polygraphite bushings I should use the following: MOOG~ K5103 Stock Lower Ball Joint K5108 Stock Upper Ball Joint ES681N Stock Inner Tie Rod ES381RL Stock Outer Tie Rod Thanks, Rick |
