on an 89 camaro rs 2.8L, do I have to get different coil springs to lower the front just a tad bit or can i compress it with a spring compressor? Thanks guys

I don't think it would be very wise to drive around with a spring compressor permanently affixed to your springs... mostly because they probably won't stay permanently affixed and you'd just end up running them over when they fell off.

You need new springs to lower "correctly. You might be able to cut your springs shorter, I don't know.

Pep Boys and other auto stores sell a spring compressor clamp that compresses TWO springs together, so it lets you compress say the two middle turns into one, thus lowering it about an inch without buying new springs. Pretty cheap solution if you don't want to buy professional lowering springs which are stiffer and designed to be lower, let alone the shock or strut not functioning in its intended travel zone and probably destroying itself sooner or later and then you'll be bouncing up and down from worn out struts!
