I am looking at swapping out the old 11" power booster and master in my '67. How does the hydraboost system tie into the powersteering unit? Is there some kind of tee system that comes with the unit or what?

I have seen this only on one first gen camaro,, its pretty much a Ford set up but will work from what i saw,,, gets its power from your power steering pump.

I am in the same boat as you Mister G. I contacted Hydratech and they are awsome very informative. I will send you the info the sent me (once I get to work). It will blow you away. There are some people out there that will document every step of their upgrades and let us ride their coat tales. I love this internet. In the interm visit:

www.pro-touring.com (http://www.pro-touring.com)

and do a search for hydroboost or hydrtech

A pressure hose goes directly from the pump discharge fitting to a port on the hydroboost unit. A second pressure hose goes from a second hydroboost port directly to the gear. So the hydroboost unit and the steering gear are connected in series.

A low pressure hose goes from the hydroboost unit back to the pump reservoir. Another low pressure hose goes from the gear outlet port to the reservoir. Some Saginaw pump reservoirs were designed to work with hydroboost units. They actually have two spouts for the two low pressure hoses to connect to. Otherwise the two low pressure hoses have to be tee'd together and then connect to the one spout that is typically on the back of the reservoir.

Thanks guys. Did any of you swap out the master cylinder when you did the conversion?

No need to swap the master as it just replaces the vacuum booster. Unless your mc is bad....

I'll second what Mike said, I doubt that I'll ever have a camaro without a hydroboost...It rocks!!

Paul, if you have more pictures of your Hydroboost unit and car, I can add them to Hydroboost.com/HydratechBraking.com. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Also, be sure to check out the Hydroboost Forums (http://www.hydratechbraking.com/forums/), lots of good info there, too.

Sadly, the hydroboost has been "uninstalled" from the 69 ragtop.... :( This is part of the demodification process to put the car back to stock as I am selling/trading the car... :( :(

I do have plans to build a 67 RS/SS 4 speed car that I picked up though!! I am going with the "better off dead" paint scheme!!! Tuxedo black outside with a red nose stripe, red pinstripe and deluxe red interior!! You want pictures of the hydroboost installed in that car when I'm done?? :D

Hi Will,
Since we haven't been able to connect via the phone, I'll provide you with some informations via -email. To answer your question about pushrod lengths, the best I can say is that we offer the systems in both the long and short mc rod versions, and now also have an optional interchangeable pushrod design too, supplying both mc pushrods ($25 option). The master cylinder design you choose to implement utlimately determines the mc pushrod length. For your combo, either a 1" or 1 1/8" bore mc would work splendidly, and whether you choose to run the hyper expensive SSBC billet mc or not is just about irrelevant, in that they are essentially the C3 Corvette based designs (with lots of $$ bling!). I would imagine, though do not know for sure, that these billet master cylinders must be available in both the deep and shallow style, and given a choice would lean towards the shallow '77 and newer type design (using the short pushrod). There is zero performance difference, simply a compatibility / fitment detail. The nice part about running the short mc pushrod is that you do have a wider range of choices, as you could just as easily also install a C5 Vette mc too.
I have no hopes of anticipating and answering all of your questions in one fell swoop, so I will provide you with some links that may help answer some of your questions:

Here is a photoshoot of the exact system that you are inquiring about:

I have also attached a copy of the installation instructions (in Microsoft "Word" format) for you to check out. Let me know what other questions you may have, as I'd be more than happy to answer them for you.
