: Global West Products?
68RS/SS454 Jan 24th, 05, 12:51 AM I decided to upgrade my suspension and found this
Global West (http://www.globalwestsuspension.com/cart/show_items.asp?MainCatID=1&CategoryID=15#products)
Problem is, that price is pretty much all I have to spend for 2005.
Does anyone know if it's a good product and worth the price?
And if I go for it, is it COMPLETE or will there be any other items I may HAVE to buy to make it work?
Thanks guys...........
Mike68RS Jan 24th, 05, 03:40 AM Ron,
Global West is right up there with the other top suspension companies like Detroit Speed, Hotchkis, etc. Depending on what you are looking for, one company might better be suited for your needs. Let us know what you are planning on doing with the car and it will help decide which parts from which company best fits.

Marcom007 Jan 25th, 05, 08:56 AM Ron,
IF you are looking to replace your control arms, they are one of the best as Mike68RS noted, but unless you are planning on road racing you do not need the tubular stuff. Depending on what you are trying to do give the guys at Performance suspension a call http://www.performancesuspension.com/. They have suspension packages with varying degrees of components depending on what you are trying to do with your ride.
Good luck
DREID Jan 25th, 05, 10:01 AM Ron, I just installed upper/lower tubular and the Qa1 coil overs they came with everything you need and are a snap to install. I'm waiting on new spindle/brake set up from Baer so have not tested it yet but it can only be an improvement. That set up was around $1500 and gives you 2500 left over for other projects. I'll be glad to send detailed pics of it installed without spindles.

davidpozzi Jan 25th, 05, 10:21 AM What are your goals for the car?
Do you want a G machine or just decent manners on the road?
Most people can do well with a simple rebuild, springs, antiroll bars, steering box, brakes, wheels, tires.

ss dave Jan 25th, 05, 10:22 AM I installed GW up/low control arms and front and rear lowering springs. Very stiff, great handling. For my money well worth the $ and time.
SS5449 Jan 25th, 05, 04:32 PM Sorry Bryan. The complete subchassis from classic, is just the subchassis itself. It can be upgraded to tubular uppers/lowers, QA1 coil overs, etc and so on, for a grand total between 4-5k, depending on upgrades. This one falls under the catagory of 'if it sounds too good to be true....' I only know this because I tried to buy the item myself...
Brian Lewis Jan 25th, 05, 05:16 PM Hmm, whats interesting is the 2005 Catalog actually says its 'includes' the tubular suspension arms and rack and pinion steering! :(
SS5449 Jan 26th, 05, 03:47 PM You are looking at the one built by Chris Alston? Chassisworks? Yes, for a deal like that looks, it's big money.I called them 2 months ago. They can get what you see....but not for 1300....that is just the frame...I know...for it was this moment that my hope's had been crushed...I was in the dumps for days...until I momentarly revived by ordering a performance suspension rebuild, poly bushing's through out...4 KYG gas-adjust's...1-1/2" drop multi-leaf's...and 2" drop front coils for about the same...I figure I can get rid of this frame, which is guldstrand modified just fyi...for about what I have in it....but alas...all is not lost....for in the not too distant future,....I see...a man with more $$ than sense...chunking out for the chassisworks full meal deal...forgetting about work for a few days, and sliding one underneath, that which I call my 69...

I installed the GW upper control arms and Del A Lum lower control bushings. Works great. I also used the Hotchkis springs and Koni shocks.
