I was curious if it would be okay to weld a crack on my upper lh control arm. There are a couple of hairline cracks near the area where the ball joint is attached. I also have a slight dent on the lower lh control arm and I would like to use an air hammer and bang it out and I was curious if there would be any potential problems with that.

Welcome to Team Camaro
My arms were cracked and worn around the shock mounting holes. I welded them up, redrilled\filed them back into shape and all is well. Probably stronger than when they were new.
Are the cracks where the ball joint rivets were, or somewhere else? I don't see why you couldn't weld cracks like that.

I think it would be ok but you need to make sure the metal has not been "working" and has gotten weak elseware. I don't know alot about metal work but heat can make it bend easyier in the future if heated to much I belive. Maybe some experts will chime in here. My reason for thinking about this is suspension parts are stressed more than other parts.
