What do you all think of Guldstrand’s a-arm relocation “kit” for first gen camaros? It seems to be worthwhile and free compared to upper and lower arms.

I'd do it on a stock sub without other modifications....but you knew I'd say that.

Let me know if you wanna get it done.

i just got the front coils (slalom) from them with the template. i can't justify spending that ammount of money on a-arms. if it will improve my performance then why not. i'll probably do it on sunday. hey - chicane67 - we need to settle up on that master that was yours. call me so i can get you the $$.

Verify that the template they gave you has not shrunk or elarged due to photocopying. Or else your holes will not fit your control arm shafts.

Harshman, I'll give Tyler a call and get your number. We'll most likely be at the shop on Saturday, after 12 or so. If you want to come by, we have a front sub that we are doing the Guldstrand geometry anaylsis on and you can take a look at what is involved. BTW, good choice on the front coils.

Good point David. I have been meaning to call them and have them put an inch scale on the print so that it could be verified with a ruler and resized if necessary to compensate. If the copy is off, even just a little, it can be a PITA.

That's a good idea about the inch scale Tom. When I did the mod, I took both templates.... one downloaded from Davids site and the one Guldstrand sent me and put them on a copier. I had to play with the enlargement\reduction until it measured precisely. They're way off. Once done and the holes drilled, the shafts went on like butter.

If anyone wants, I have copies. I think I went with the one off Davids site, although they're the same.

hey tom, do you have a true copy that you are using with tyler? The copies that i got from bobby at guldstrand are on blue card stock paper. the job seems simple. heck, i have relocated rearends on semi's, i think that i can handle this one.
and since tyler is switching cell comp. (or didn't pay the bill), my number is (702)321-9033.

The center to center of the holes are a known dimension, 6.5" shrink or enlarge till you get that on your drawing.

That's what I did and then made copies. I used the drawing Guldstrand sent me.

Rick, I got an answering machine.

I am about to do it the "hard" way. I will not drill new holes, I am going to cut loose the whole mount thing and lowering it on the frame and weld it back on. This will require a jig to be made so that the new location can be fixed before welding on.

I think this will be better since the mount will look the same from above. If you just drill new holes you have to cut of a portion of the top to clear the a-arms and i don't think that it loooks nice that way.

I will post pictures when it will be ready.

Once you put the upper arm on and splash shields in place its very hard to see unless you know what your looking for.

can you use different studs? if so, i'll keep the headers in place and just trim the studs down untill i can pop them out. they seem to be the same as wheel studs.

they aren't quite the same as wheel studs, and are available new from GM for a couple bucks a piece.
this thread reminds me- i gotta get going on doing this mod. it is the one thing i wanted to do over the winter, and it hasn't gotten done yet. i might pull the engine out to see how well my home brewed LS1 mounts work on my LS1 dummy engine, anyways, so that would seem to be a good time to do some drilling..
