I put front coil springs for a small block with A/C in my 68. I won't have A/C. Anyone have actual experience on how much the front ride height will be increased over stock. Stanley Springs(Harrisburg, PA) claims 1/2 to 1 inch. Now it's time to get rear leaf springs, and I'm stuggling with 1 or 2 inch over standard ride ht. for the rear leafs. I've read all the postings, some say the rear leafs will sag over time by varying amounts. I know most are trying to lower their cars, but I prefer one that sits slightly higher. Can I expect 1/2 to 1 inch as stated by Stanley Springs?

I got front and rear springs from Rick's and they ended up lifting my car a good inch. More than I would have liked actually.... Going with Hotchkis next time.

I bought A/C front coil springs for my 69 non-a/c car and it also sits too high up. I would pull them out and cut a coil off or get another set of springs. I will probably go with the Hotchkis springs.

Gene,

Two weeks ago I installed Landrum spring adjusters and B700 (700#/in) springs. The top of the adjusters need to have a 1/4" deep helix cut in them to match the upper spring seat but it only takes 5 minutes with a grinder. Changing the ride height now takes less than an hour (practice makes perfect.) $200 for the whole enchilada. The car rides like a pussycat.

I have a hard time believing a statement that says any car will drop 2" with new springs. The drop in my car with all the pleasantries/weight of home compared to a lightweight fighter will not be the same.

If you are looking for replacement leaf springs, heres a thought... a company called Belltech makes every suspension component possible for trucks all the way back to even 1963, even leaf springs for the 63 C10's. These leaf springs are designed to handle more weight and to lower the vehicle, what the thought is, is that you can find a truck year and make, that fits up to your car and get the leaf springs for it. therefore keeping the low ride and having more traction.

Oh yeah, I bought my set of lowering leaf springs for not even $160. If pricing is a problem.

Just to let you guys know where I am at right now. I, with the help of David Pozzi, came up with a Federal Mogul spring (#6308) that will lower the front of the car 1 1/2". They have a spring rate of around 380lbs. They don't need to be cut at all and they only cost me $55. Sometimes the research does pay off.
