Hi, I have a 1973 Camaro, 350 bored .30 over, mild performance build. TH-350 tranny out to 2.73open gears. (my rear tire diameter is 26.1 inch 235/60r/15) Which doesnt hook up as strong as I'd like.
I want to drive this car on the street, it wont be used for anything but street and a little street racing. I probably wont go over 80 in it normally, maybe occasionally. I have found a trans am axle at the salvage yard, it seems to be a posi. Unknown gear ratio, but I assume its something like 3.3-3.42. The price is $175, i might get it for $150.
Any suggestions? would this axle significantly improve car's street performance for the cost? What should I look for in the axle to be sure it is decent without pulling the cover?
Also, any suggestions on what stall I should run on my torque converter?
Thanks very much
