I read a lot about proportionning valves.
Do modern cars have a pressure regulation between rear and front brakes??

My camaro has disc on front with drums on rear.
I bleeded the 4 brakes 5 times till i have the car. Now it brakes in a (almost) straight line. THough i still have the issue of jamming my rear tires very quickly when braking (not so hard)

I wonder if my problem comes from underpowered front discs with very powerfull drums  or from bad brake lines, or just that i need a proportionning valves i don't know really.

I think like power is ther but i jammed my rear wheels.

Marc

I have 245/60R15 rear with 225/60R15 front

Factory-original brake systems are ALWAYS designed so the fronts lock up before the rears; if the rears lock first, they don't "steer" any more, don't follow the front wheels, and the car can spin. Is your brake system original, or was it converted from front drums to front discs with parts from other cars?

Park brake cable too tight, If you pull the drums off you will find that the shoes are not up tight to the top post, loosen park cable untill shoes rest tight against the post, adjust star wheel for light drag.

i don't know but i think my car originally has drums in front.

DO you think a proportionning valve is the way to go ?

what can i do to equilibrate the brake power between front an drear?

Hey Marc,

If you don't have a proportioning valve, you should have one to keep the rears from locking up before the front.

what do u mean John?
I already have a valve installed on my set up? where is it?

The proportioning valve should be along the front-rear brake line somewhere... it comes off the driver's side of the distribution block directly under the master cylinder and runs down towards the steering gearbox and then along the driver's side frame rail to the back.

ok i'll check when the car will be here again. It isn't home for now.
So there is a stock proportionning valve? it seems odd to me. Why do people add one then?
