One of my buddies is doing a drum brake to disk brake conversion on his 68 Camaro using stock chevy parts. He wants to know if track width will change. I don't have a clue. Do any of you guys/gals know?

Track width will go out, ~1/4" per side, due to the thickness of the rotor's.

Jims partially right b/c it depends on what hub is being used??

A drum hub has more wheel mount offset then a cut down cast, one-piece, rotor/hub or a two piece rotor/hub.

Therefore if he is just using drum hubs, Jim's right but if he is using either one of the others, it will be like about 3/4" increase per side.

I have asked before if this is why the Second Gen's wheel spread is more then our cars but have never gotten an answer.. At least that I remember, but my memory isn't the best these days... I asked b/c of possibly using a Second Gen's S/F under my car is all....

3/4"! you sure about that, Paul? Thats a ton, no wonder the stock disk brake guys can't get any tires to fit... I always though it was just a scosh under a quarter inch...

Paul, it's closer to a half inch.
The bare hubs are different in offset by 9/16" the disc brake hub sticks out more than a drum hub. But you should add 1/16" for drum thickness on the drum hub, so I get 1/2" more offset on the disc hub.

David, when I get around to putting 12" rotors on my stock drum hubs, it less than a quarter, right? (gawd I hope so, or my tires'll rub!)
