I am sure this is a old topic but I am new to this board. I am trying to figure out where my car will sit with Hotchkis 1-1/2" lowering leaf springs. Does any one have a measurement from the axle center to the top of the wheel opening lip? Also if you have the 2" drops that measurement would be helpfull also. My car currently measures 15-1/2" Thankyou in advance.

The rear on my '69 is 13" from the center of the wheel to the opening with the Hotchkis 1.5 drop. I've yet to drop the front so no help there. You didn't mention what year you have, '67, '68 would be more.

Edit: Duh.. larrys68 = '68

Mine is 13 7/8" from lip to center of wheel, but I also made and installed 1 1/4" lowering blocks recently to make it sit where I really wanted it. I have the 2" lowered springs in the front from Hotchkis also.

Crap I measured wron but heres what I have so far 243/4" from the floor to the top of the lip on the front My fron tire/wheel measurements are 245x45x17
The rear is also 243/4inches and the rear measurements are 255x45x17 When I get back the shop I will measure from the center od the wheel for you if you still need it. My rear suspension is Hotchkis springs and my front is coilover from Global West.
Hope this helped a little.

Larry do you have single or multi leafs now? Sag? Just trying to figure out why you and guy with lowering blocks are diferent. I think DSE offers 3" drop from stock? What is stock before wear? Thanks

I'm almost to the point of putting the rear back together and once i do, i'm going to install with the original single leaf springs to get the "baseline" measurement. Still don't know if i'm going to go with the hotchkis or DSE leafs. If my stock ride height is low compared to the supposed factory ride height listed in the assembly manual. I'll know i have sagging springs and may need to go with the 3" drop to get the ride height i want. If the springs don't seem too far off, then i'll probably go with the hotchkis 1.5" drop. Of course with the stock front springs in the car for now, along with the fact that the engine isn't scheduled to be done until september. I don't think i'll know the ride height for a long time.

Larry, just finished the same set up with the Hotchkis rear and 2 inch drop spindles up front. I do have coil overs though so can play with that quite a bit. Here's a pic (just have to show it off!!!) I can see the light at the end of the 3 year tunnell. Should roll by april. Oh and that is with 18/275/40 http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RwA0A1cTvYnBQiU3v8FjmTxGYEqUTkbTdBJHrCZ7IhhvJrPbN JeIRjRcBNpXyiKzcv94ucdS7!66Xrf3xAkHMj5BErm7A8lswqW cQtrxiLM/DSC02978.JPG?dc=4675510273510424720

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate the input. My car has 5 leafs on it now that have been on it since I bought the car in 1982. The assembly manuel gives you a measurement from the rocker based on all the options you have. I made my best guess using that info.

Mine with the 2407C's on rear and 1907's on front measures 13 3/4" from wheel center to lip with 15" wheels. But that's with no fuel tank, deck lid, seats or engine\trans installed. I'm hoping it'll drop a lot farther.

David, I LOVE that color. What is it? And who's dog did you run over?

Joe - that's the shop dog - LilMan. That color is PPG Patriot Red pearl. Looks pretty sweet. I haven't had it out of the garage in 14 months while doing my assembly and it was cloudy when I brought it home. Supposed to me really sik in the sun. Anyway - thanks!

I got the hotchkis 1-1/2" lowering springs on the car. The wheel lip to center of axle dimension is 15-1/4".
