The subframe on our 67 Coupe is hacked. The previous owner wanted to shave some weight so he but off lots of metal   Guess the structure wasn't that important to him...

I have a replacement subframe, but like alot of them out there, two body mount holes are rusted. Some weld washers in there as a fix.

Is this OK or should I start to look for a nice subframe local to Detroit?

Thanks,
Joe

If it is just the body mounts that are rusted, you can purchase precut kits from reproduction catalogs and weld in new mounts, or you can make your own. It is not uncommon for these areas to be rusted out, especially in the midwest. Not a big job, just a job.

Does anyone know of a nice, straight subframe in the Detroit area?

Thanks,
Joe

Please look under all the '68 to '74 X-cars too.

You just may get lucky because they originally were upscale and cost more so the people that usually bought them didn't beat on them like us Chevy gearhead guy's..

The Nova-Chevy, Omega-Olds, Ventura-Pontiac and Apollo-Buick cars!!

All together, they spell NOVA!!! ( ---- m-o-u-s-e, Mickey Mouse, He, He!!! --- Er,... Pardon me, I just had to...
