I'm getting ready to install a P/S unit on my '69 Z28 which has headers. I will need a spacer that will go between the first header bolt and the pump bracket. Does anyone know the exact length that I will need to make the spacer or can I purchase the spacer at some part store? Thanks.

I had to fab the correct lenght spacer on my 69 after a header swap because of the different flange thickness. I got one that was too long from Classic Ind. and cut it to length. The deal chevyboy68 is showing (although it looks clean) isnt going to be as easy on a 69 because a 69 has long water pump configuration and 69 is short pump. But that modification looks sweet.

I also got the kit from the guy on Ebay and it works great. If you use it, make sure your heads have the accessory holes and you won't have to worry about messing around with the motor mount/exhaust manifold holes. I have a ’67 with a small block running a long water pump.

my power steering pump came silver but i don't like it, i think a better and more correct color is gloss black. A good, and also correct color for the gear box is VHT's cast iron paint, but leave the top cover that has the adjustment bolt the natural color and clear coat that part. Also, DO NOT sandblast the gear box. No matter how careful one thinks they are masking it sand always has a tendency to get in the box and will wreck internals

I took off my origonal 67 box and cleaned it. The box was light grey like graphite color, it was not paint, it was the color of the casting. It reminded me of tufftrided crankshafts I've seen.
Lots of people paint them black.
