These parts came out of a 71 Corvette 454 PS pump.

I thought I had seen inside a lot of GM PS pumps.....I guess not graemlins/clonk.gif

These fit between the back of the pump housing and the reservoir, covering the return port. The washer/spacer is made from fiber.

Dumb question: What's their purpose?

That is a filter, the ring is the filter elememt, the spring holds it in place. I've only seen one.
