I have heard that the rear seat cover for a fold-down rear seat is the same as a convertible does anyone know if it is true?

You heard right!!!!

Only for '67. '68-'69 fold-down backrest is notched for the release lever.

The fold down rear seat cover is different from a convertible cover in that the lower section of fabric is longer on the fold down seat because it wraps around the bottom further. I had the convertible cover installed on a fold down by having an upholstery shop sew on a new lower section. the bottoms are identical.
