How do I identify my Holley? It's a double pumper, dual line feed, mechanical secondaries, beyond that I have no clue. There has to be a way to tell what CFM it is, right? It's in my `68SS, originally a big block car, but the engine is a `70 Vette 454/390.
I just got the car 2 months ago and broke a leaf in the passenger side rear(multi-leaf), so it's down until I can pull them and send them off to National Spring for repair and rebuild. They're charging me $350 to replace the broken spring, re-fire, re-shim, replace all the bushings and paint them. Is that a good deal? or any other suggestions?
I also need to go through and do a tune up on it, since I have no idea when the last one was done, what plugs should I use in this? I am a diehard AC fan for GM engines, right now it has R45T in it. It's got the full MSD6AL ignition(dist., coil, and module), and I found one of the Taylor plug wires had backed way off the distributor cap and the wire and cap are kinda charred. Am I going to have to replace the cap, and/or wire? It was breaking up around 4,500-4,750 RPM, I suppose running on 7 cylinders will cause that, eh?!!! I thought this thing was fast, and it was only on hitting 7...SH!T.
On a side note, this is my first big-block, what is common as far as redline? It's got a 6K chip in the ignition, but I was just curious as to what the standard is...
Thanks for any and all info.
Mike
