I'm real close to starting the disk brake swap on my girlfriends 69 camaro- We have stock disks from a 72 Chevelle-

Do you need 15" rims to work with disk brakes???
I have 14" now.. Plan to change eventually, but was hoping i could get the disks installed before spending the $$ on new rims...

If they are standard 11" GM brakes then 14" Disc Brake Profile rims will fit.
If you have Standard Drum brake style rims right now on the Camaro they may not fit.
Post the rim code (by the valve stem hole) if you can and we can look it up to see if it will clear the calipers.

They are not stock rims... They are goofy aftermarket ones. See the pics in my sig below.

The disks are stock GM stuff so they should be the 11" ones...

Ben:

An aftermarket rim like that should clear with no problem. They are normally machined to exceed factory rim profiles and fit most applications.
A stock disc is under 11" by a couple fractions actually and can't see any reason they would hit.
Go for it and post back for additional info on the switch-over if necessary. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Cool, thanks!
Don't know why i didn't think of it before... When i got home tonight, i pulled the front rims off the camaro- and put them on my 70 elky(has front disks)

The caliper is REALLY close to the rim- but does not hit or scrape. Of course i did not put the car down and drive on it that way... Hopefully they will work on the camaro. I'm more hopefull now.

Anyway, Thanks again!!! graemlins/beers.gif
