I posted this as an after thougt on another thread but really need help. I am finishing up my new brake system on a total rebuild car and am not happy with the pedal movement (side to side) The feel and throw are fine, and I think I put in new plastic bushings but if memory serves me correct they are so thin this can't be my problem. I have a good 1/2 inch of travel left to right while in the free play of my throw. Not cool - any ideas??? The clutch pedal is doing the same thing basically and that's all new linkage, clutch etc. Proper engagement but not tight side to side. I want a new car feel, am I asking too much from my 67 ?

The same pin holds em both in... if it's loose, it's loose, Pull the pedals out and fix it. you'll probably need to cobble some type of shims to tighten it up, or, perhaps if all these parts are new, something is not quite right where the pin goes in under the dash?

are the pedals original for your car? if i'm not mistaken one end of the pin is welded to the
pedal maybe it came loose,,,, also if you have room you might be able to put some washers to tighten it a little,,,, just some thoughts,,,
good luck.

Shims! Why didn't I think of that? B/C I'm a rookie that's why! I think the pedals are original but the car had no documentation and was a serious beater so who knows. I can see already that shims (probably plastic to cut out noise) will fix it.
Thanks guys - this site is the best!!

Update! Ordered the bushings from Ricks just for grins and when I took out the pedals ya'll we're right. I only had one. I also shimed the brake rod with a washer and that tightened that up. Feels as good as new I'm sure!!! Thanks again!
