I e-mailed Stockton wheel today after I got my letter back from them with their comments on it. Don says that he thinks they can make wheels like I want, but not 16" Ralley's, but rather "Explorer" type truck or circle track wheels. He also mentioned "Mods".

I asked him what "Mod" wheels are and asked if he wants me to send my template back to him to double check everything.

I just got off the phone (about 30 min. ago) with Don at Stockton wheel. He just quoted a price for 16" x 7" with 4.75 backspacing "Explorer" steel wheels that he says will clear my 13" rotors and single piston calipers at approx. $100.00 each.

A 16" x 10" with 4.5" backspacing goes for approx. $130.00 each. Whats everybody's opinion on an "inexpensive" set of 16" rectangular holed circle track type wheels on my car. If you are curious they are on Stockton Wheels web site under the name "Explorer" wheel.

Are the 16" x 10" with 4.5" b/s too wide? Should I go with 16" x 8" instead?? I have 14" x 9" w/3.75" b/s L60-14 on it now. They have a section width of 11.75" at 30psi and even though its raised up, I like the look.

A 10" wheel with only 4.5" backspacing may stick out more than you want. I had a 20x10 with 4.5" backspacing and in my opinion they stuck out to far. Do some measuring and you maybe able to run as much as 5.5" , but I think all cars are a little different. If I hit a big bump the tire would come in contact with the fender, and rolling the inner lip wouldnt have helped because the tire stuck out that far. As for what style of wheel, well thats up to you, I personally like 17" boyds, budniks and billet specialty's. Also when you get your brakes straitend out and make the brakets, I would like to know how it went and what you had to do, as I might try the same thing, I would love to have 13" rotors on the front and 12" rear. Maybe I will see the car around when you get it done.

Sorry I haven't posted back earlier, I've been messing around doing other things and such. (Actually, I just plain forgot to).

pdq, I live in Wentzville, but right now I'm going to school in Warrensburg so I pass through Columbia quite often, maybe sometime when passing through I could stop by and see the car. Where are you at on the brakes and other things, is it about road ready?

My car is along way from being "restored" because right now I'm just upgrading everything.
Brakes, have rotors where they fit and just took caliper mounting brackets to a friend thats going to let me use his stuff to modify them out the needed distance to put calipers on them. Therefore all liability will be on me. He's a "Pro" so I know that I'm in good hands.
Engine, I have crank and rods torqued in bare block but while manhandling the block on my engine stand, I "pulled" a rib. Going to take a while to heal so can't button engine up yet.
This is disappointing because I've been helping a neighbor set some windows and a patio door and couldn't help with the door this PM. He has a "cherry-picker" engine hoist and is going to let me use it to change my old engine out and install my 496.
