I am putting in a chevelle 12 bolt into my camaro, and it is roughly an inch wider on each side. Can i fit a bigger backspacing under my rear to help offset the difference. I ve heard 5" is safe under a 69, but can i get 5.5 or possibly 6 to fix this?
Thanks

measure very carefully, i would guess if a 5"b/s fits with a stock rear and the new one is 1" wider a 5.5" would fit.be sure to measure twice and buy once.

Not sure here but I think a 5" bs might require moving the shock. What are your plans for converting the coil springs of the chevelle to leaf springs?

The rear end was bought from a friend of ours who said he got it from a guy out of his 68 camaro. The leaf spring brackets were welded on from a donor rear im guessing. I just want to get some bigger tires with the right amount of backspacing, so i can hook up better. Right now i got 14" by 6-7 wide all around, and i dont think that is optimal for drag racing performance. I just need a tire that will not rub the lip of my quarter because the rear is too long. thats why im going for the backspacing.
Thanks
