I've been seeing alot of Camaro's lately running 17" wheels. I love the look, but don't want to mke any modifications. I was thinking of a 17x9.5 in the rear and 17x8 or 17x7 up front for my '68. I am uncertain of backspacing and also tire size other than a 40 series in the back and a 45 series up front. I plan on lowering the car so the fender is just about on top of the tire for that touring look. any suggestions?

There was some good info on this subject. The 9-1/2" wheels should fit with 275/40/17's - the right general backspacing is in one of the replies but be sure to measure your car carefully on both sides.
