I have a 69 Z28 with F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas tires. The tires were on the car when I bought it, I suspect they are between 5-7 years old. Obviously the car sits a lot. I get a fairly loud humming/pulsing noise starting at about 45-50 MPH and it gets worse the faster the speed. I think the tires may be the source, since when I disengage the engine at speed the noise is still there. Any comments?

I'd suspect it's your tires, they may be older than you think.
I just replaced some REALLY old G70x14's on mine with new radials and I can't believe the improvement in ride and handling. I can turn the wheel without grunting!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking of getting either BF Goodrich Radial T/As or Firestone Firehawks. Right now I'm leaning toward 225/60R15 on the front and 245/60R15 on the back. What did you put on your's?

I run the firestone Firehawk SZ50 tires and I love them. I don't think they make too many sizes for 15'' rims though. I run 16'' rims with 225 rubber up front and 255 in back.

Boodlefoof,
I tried to send you an email from a previous
reply you made to me on gas back in Feb, but
the email was rejected. As I recall you live in Centreville? Send me an email: gst@cox.rr.com

I just went to Dunlop GT Qualifers from BFG's and highly recomend them... The BFG's felt like rocks compared to the GT's and the GT's are a higher speed rating. (T) 118mph vrs the BFG's (S) 112 rating.

I went back as close as I could to original sizes. On 14x5 wheels I put Goodrich P195/75R14 whitewalls. I don't have power steering and it really made a big improvement in drivabiltiy over the 14x6 and G70x14's I replaced.

I have BFG 235/60-15 T/A radials all the way around on my (stock original) '69 Z/28 - no rubs, looks good.
