I have a 1968 camaro and want to know how big of a rear tire can I run with a 15 x 8 rim. I don't want it to hang out of the wheel well.It has a 10 bolt with multi springs. Also want to run a 14 x 7 rim in the front. Have p235/60 now it has 8" of tread and I want to go narrower to 6 or 7". Please give me your response's.

I used to have 14X7's with 225/60's on the front of my 67, they had about 7 1/4 inches of tread width. The rims had only 3 1/4 inches of backspacing, but that combo worked fine, no rubbing. After installing 2 inch lowering springs, they began to rub the outer wheel well.
On the back I had 15X8's with only 3 1/2 inches of backspace. Tires were 265/50's. With so little backspace, they rubbed on the outer wheelwell pretty badly. I think they would have been fine with another inch of backspacing on the rims.

I have 275/60/15's at the rear & 245/50/14's on the front. It does have a slight front rake looks like it's ready to jump type stance.
Check out my pics for different angles.
