I want to put 17 inch wheels on my 69 Camaro. Probably Torque Thrust 2's or Edelbrock 409's. Does anyone out there run a 9 1/2 inch wide rim on the back. Are mods required?

I have heard of people using that big a rim, I am not one of them however. Go to www.detroitspeed.com (http://www.detroitspeed.com) in the FAQ section.

Do a search on this topic it's been discussed a bit. I do know on a 67-68 a 9.5 will fit with 5.5" backspacing.

17x9.5" with 5" of backspacing will fit!
however extensive inner wheel well mods. are needed. the edelbrock wheelsare only available up to 8"wide at this time and are not expecting to release any new widths untill late this fall or winter. check into centerlines models, they are a little cheaper than the t2's. if you want some thing really nice check out budniks offerings.

i just put 17x8 in front and 17x9.5 in the back of my '69. 245/45 front, 275/40 in the rear. suspension is all hothckis and polyurathane all around, 2" lower in the front and1 1/2" lower in the rear.
