Could you please tell me what the best rim/tires sizes are for a 69?
Also, what is the biggest/widest I can go in the rear?
Thanks!

Tim Meredith May 3rd, 01, 08:26 AM I like 3 1/2" on front 8" on back. On the back 8" 4 1/2" back spaceing with 275-60-15 is about as big as you can go with out doing some work. HOTROD69CAMARO May 5th, 01, 05:57 AM As far as I know its stock. I bought the car a year ago. It didnt have these wheels. We measured at the wheel place and fitted a couple different backspacings. Stock 5 leafs, I'm pretty sure stock front springs. 12 bolt rear. I ended up with 225/50 16 in front and 255/50 16 in the back ------------------ Black 69 camaro [This message has been edited by HOTROD69CAMARO (edited 05-05-2001).] DjD May 5th, 01, 06:14 AM Stock on a '69 is 14" unless it was a Z/28 which got 15". I believe the Z in '69 was 15x7 4" back space and prior to that 15x6. Tim - I don't know how you got 275-60-15's without rubbing. I tried 255's and replaced them with 245's ------------------ ...Dennis '69 RS Convertible w/SS trim (http://www.camaroslimited.com/memberscars/den.htm) '96 Z28SS #1679 of 2410 (http://www.camaroslimited.com/graphics/memcars/96ss.jpg) "The Club" (http://camaroslimited.com) golopogos Oct 27th, 01, 05:23 AM I'm running 275 60 15 on the back of my car currently and i think it looks ok. I dont have any rubbing but when i redid my car i replaced the inner whhelwell and 1/4 panels. I am pretty sure everything is in the same location as stock, although i wish i would have mini-tubbed at that time. I now want to run 315's like on the twister. I am unsure of backspacing though. The wheels are 15x7 off of a early 70's monte carlo with a 3/8 or so spacer. Suprisingly they are very well centered in the wheelwell here are some pics http://communities.msn.com/NickandSadie/shoebox.msnw ------------------ 69 Camaro 327/Th400 Deluxe Houndstooth Still got the protecto plate, build sheet, owners manual, inspection sheet from dealer, and a reciept for an extra key on date of purchase from dealer. Visions of wheelstands in my head Dave69Z Oct 29th, 01, 03:18 AM I used to have 275/60/15 on mu car with the stock 5 leaves. They rubbed the inner wheelwell and shock absorber. I switched to 255/60/15 and they fit fine. Good luck. Ed Bleich Oct 29th, 01, 04:58 AM I have 275/60-15 on my 68 using 8" rims with 4.5" backspacing. The clearance on the inside is fine. I had to trim a bit on the wheelwell lip and now they rub only on rare occasions - rare enough that I just live with it. Ed |
