View Full Version : Anybody know where to find some old Minilites?
Jeff H Jun 5th, 01, 04:41 AM I'm not really sure if I want to use them, but I'm restoring my JL8 with crossram, GM fiberglass hood, TI setup, heater and radio delete so it looks like it was ordered to be raced. I'm thinking about getting some of the old Minilites for it if I can find some.

Minilite is still in business but doesn't make the old style wheel any longer. Check these guys out www.vintagewheelworks.com/Specs.html (http://www.vintagewheelworks.com/Specs.html) the vintage 48 is real close.

bowtie-usa Jun 6th, 01, 03:26 PM Hi Jeff, you might want to check out PS Engineering, I run his T/A Mini Lite replicas on my 69z, I am running 15" x 8" with 4.5" back space with BFG 235 60R 15 on all 4 corners. The wheel is an exact reproduction run on the 69 Penske/Donohue camaro. The owner of the company is Phil Smith and the company is based out of Torrance, Ca. The company was founded in 1988 to mfg correct wheels for vintage racing. They make a lot of different style wheels. Cobra, Grand Sport, Lola, Mclaren, Chevron, GT-40, TA 5-spoke 1 piece and 2 piece and Mini lites, also TA style lug nuts. Not sure about a web site, You can Phone him at 1-310-534-4477 or Fax at 1-310-534-4977. and request a catalog.

legrand198 Jun 7th, 01, 06:45 AM Saw some listed for sale in one of the monthly race car rags 4 15 X 7 about $300. It was a tire place in Ellensburg Washington-Lost the number but ellensburg isn't tha big - you could probably call a local tire shop and get the shops number?? I have a couple of 10 x15 that I can't use as I am limited to 8x15 rims for Vintage racing.
bowtie-usa Jun 7th, 01, 05:48 PM Rick, it depends on the size you want, I paid around $300 per wheel for 15 x 8 with 4.5" backspace. They can do custom sizes and offsets. The Mini Lite replica wheels are 2 piece aluminum with steel centers. PSE can powdercoat colors to your choice. I went with a special grey to duplicate the aged magnesium look of the originals. The blue Penske/Donohue 69Z had yellow wheels. I get many compliments at car shows. I dont have a digital camera, otherwise I would be glad to post a picture.
Jeff H Jun 9th, 01, 06:38 PM Thanks for the leads guys. I found some others listed on the web, but I wonder about the quality of some of the replicas. I won't be racing the car so that's not a real big issue.
