Thanx boodlefoof Jul 2nd, 01, 04:39 PM I don't see why they wouldn't. I am running 16'' rims with 255/50 rubber in back and have quite a bit of room. Then again, my car is sitting a little high. Even if I were to lower it 2'' I would have room. I am almost sure that a 255/60 on a 15'' rim would fit fine. If they don't though, I am not liable! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif Good luck. DOUG G Jul 3rd, 01, 01:37 AM 275/60/15 (4-4.5 B/S is max too)is the biggest that fits on 67&68 ...depending on if lowered,or weak springs, may be tighter on some not others....measure twice...buy once. ------------------ My '68 Camaro (http://hometown.aol.com/Dougs68Camaro/index.html) Doug G. 68 Camaro 406 ci. 13.5@102 W/ 2.73POSI. coach420 Jul 3rd, 01, 08:08 AM There's a Camaros magazine on the stands now (I think published by the Super Chevy guys) that has a feature on wider tires/wheels for a 67/8. They fit wider tires in the rear by moving the shocks inboard of the springs. Seems like a relatively straightforward modification for a substantial benefit. pdq67 Jul 3rd, 01, 08:15 AM You know it's funny about the shock move comment, but am I missing something because the last time I looked, the shocks didn't appear to bother anything on my early '67!! And I have shock overload springs on my old shocks now, but soon not. Please advise how I should be looking at my shocks, Thx. pdq67 coach420 Jul 3rd, 01, 08:37 AM Maybe the article is a lot of hooey, but it said that with the rear wheel/tire/backspacing combo they were trying the tire was very close to contact with the lower shock mount. What tires/wheels/backspacing are you running? Rdcmro69 Jul 3rd, 01, 12:38 PM I have 235-60-15s all the way around my 69 with stock spring front and rear. They fit fine and do not rub. However the spring are new, and they raised the car quite a bit over the old worn out springs. Im not sure if they would have cleared with the old springs. my69gofast Jul 3rd, 01, 08:29 PM Yes you can fit a 60 series tire but there is a wide range of sizes in that series. My 69 has 255/60 15s on 15x8.5 rims with 4.875 back spacing. There is a slight amount of rubbing on inside when going up a driveway on an angle. A rim with 4.5" bck spc would probably eliminate it. Also, the tires I am running are wider than other 255/60 15s. Mounted on the rim, they actually measure slightly more than 11" wide. They used Nitto 275/50-ZR17 tires with Wheel Vintiques 17x10 inch steel rally wheels. They didn't say the amount of backspacing but from a photo it appears to be about 5 inches. It also says that 275/40-ZR17 fit. TLDG3 Jul 4th, 01, 09:20 AM What is the correct wheel size(s) for the 69 Camaro? Does anyone know? I am going to try to put Firebird or Camaro take-offs on my 69 SS. I may have to use spacers to make the backspacing correct, but I think that will look pretty good with 245/50-16 tires. You can buy that in a package deal from SLP all 4 rims and tires for $550 |
