This is a lot of good information, but does anyone know if you can fit 9 or 10" wheels in the back without cutting the trunk or rolling the fender? if so, how involved is it? I want to put Torq-Thrust IIs 18x9 or 18x10 in the rear.
thanks,

On my 69 I'm running 17X8's on the front with 245's, and 17X9.5's on the rear with 275/40-17's. These are Torque Thrust II's with 4.75 b.s front, and 5.75 b.s. rear. I also have Baer brakes, the rotors being thicker than drums. I get a MINOR rubbing one the INSIDE of the wheelwells if I'm turning and entering a steep driveway at the same time. It does not cut the tires at all. There are no wheelwell mods at all. The springs are in the stock location also.
If I recommended it, I would order 5.5 b.s. on the rears as they would clear easily and probably eliminate the inside rubbing.
With all this said, my car is a 69 and yours is a 68 which I've heard has slightly smaller wheelwells.
You can see how mine fit at http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumList?u=1535951

Camcojb,
How much thicker do you estimate the Baer rotors are than stock drums? I have drums on my rear and ordered 17x9.5 Torq Thrust IIs with 5.25 bck spacing about three weeks ago. My measurements indicated these would fit the best with my rear.
Any clearance problems up front? I ordered same size as you have.

I would guess 1/4" or so. I think you'll be fine. I have plenty of clearance to the outside wheelwells so a little less backspacing would be fine.
The fronts don't rub under any conditions I've seen with the car.

Thanks Jody
That's good to know. I'll probably still be a little nervous until I actually have them bolted on the car.
