I just put a Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold and cam .488 int .510 exh Lift with Edelbrock valve springs that match the cam along with a double roller timming chain and a 650 Edelbrock carb with electronic choke. I also put in a 2500 stall converter on my 350 turbo trans. I can't get the timing set. Everytime i move the disrtibutor left or right the timming mark never moves. Anyone have and idea on what i am doing wrong or what is wrong with the timing? The distributor is HEI.

Assuming you are using timing light, make sure you have the vacuum advance disconnected and the port on the carb plugged. (that is if you have it) I made that mistake yesterday, big difference!

Is the mechanical advance in the distributor free and working? Mine was froze up and gave me fits!

Never heard of such a thing - it's not possible for the engine to run and not have the timing mark move when you turn the distributor. What kind of timing light are you using, and what plug wire is it connected to?
