View Full Version : How to measure wheel width? MagnusRS68 Jan 25th, 02, 01:22 PM I wonder how is the right way to measure the wheels width? Is it just from edge to edge: -->I:I<-- ? JohnZ Jan 25th, 02, 02:31 PM Wheel width is measured between the INSIDE edges of the rim flanges, where the tire bead seats. Outside doesn't matter. I<----->I ------------------ JohnZ CRG '69 Z28 Fathom Green tracyracy Jan 25th, 02, 06:54 PM Wheel width is measured from lip to lip as in the first post and then 1" is subtracted to allow for 1/2" front and back J countour wheel weight flange. This for when a tire is on it, as seen in the tool used at your local tire shop. But yes, the second post is correct also , when you do not have a tire, this is termed bead seat to bead seat. MagnusRS68 Jan 25th, 02, 11:37 PM Okey, thanks guys. So one can count on the wheels are 1" more than it says. Like 7" wide is actually 8". And if backspacing is 3,5 on a 7" there will be 4,5" outwards the car? Then i have totally wrong wheels in the front =( Thanks pdq67 Jan 27th, 02, 04:05 AM Yes. pdq67 HawaiianCamaro Jan 29th, 02, 06:16 PM www.hobbystage.net/camaro/hawaiiancamaro/1012350156-000625.jpg (http://www.hobbystage.net/camaro/hawaiiancamaro/1012350156-000625.jpg) [This message has been edited by HawaiianCamaro (edited 01-29-2002).] MagnusRS68 Jan 30th, 02, 03:59 AM Thanks HawaiianCamaro. =) I have a little tips for you, if you use the PrintScreen key, you don't have to take a photograph of your screen. =) (If it is you who took the picture) HawaiianCamaro Jan 30th, 02, 10:34 AM Didnt want to enclude the WWW address for copyright reasons but oh well I found it along with how to measure Disc brake Back spacing at www.wheelvintiques.com (http://www.wheelvintiques.com) its at the bottom of their catalog pages. Along with the fact that I have to download new drivers for my printer and scanner to work with Windows XP. http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif Just thought I would try taking a Dig Pic and see how it turned out.
