Im interested in what size on the wheels people have on their stock 68 camaros with 2" drop springs. Im going to buy new 17" wheels and whant to have maximum/best size on them, no rubbing.

Please post your configuration. =)

Thanks

I have a '67 with Torque Thrust II's and PST 2" drop coils. I have '69 front disks which push the wheels out a little more than stock drums. The rear is stock drums. Here is my set up;

Front...............17 x 7 w/ 4.5" b.s. (custom order, had to wait 6 weeks) tire is BFG KDWS 235/45

Rear................17 x 8 w/ 4.75" b.s.
(stock size) tire is BFG KDWS 255/50

I think the fit and look is near perfect for the open wheelwell design of a '67 - '68 and I only get a little bark from the fronts on only the harshest bounces (I think the tires hit the fender well bolts).

I had that problem aswell that the tire hits the innerfender bolts, so i removed those bolts that was hitting. Im thinīking of to put flatheaded phillips headed bolts instead.

How does the space look in the rear with the 255? Is it room for a 9" wheel and 275? =)

Thanks

With the 255's, the width of the tire is less than .5" (10mm) from the inside wheel well and would probably hit the outer wheel lip if the car dropped low enough. My 255/50's are 27" tall. I would think that to make the 9" and 275's fit, you would need 5" b.s. (you might need a spacer to make it not rub inside) and either jack up the car (not a very poular look these days), or modify/roll the fenderwell lip to clear the outside of the tire.

Typical first gen set up is : 17x8,4.75" bss front and a 17x9.5, 5.5"/5.75" bss rear. Tire sizes are 245,255/40/17 front and a 275/40/17 rear.

Hi tracyracy.

Is that with stock fenders and wheelwells?
And do you think that will fit on a 2" drop?

Thanks

Tracy, On a '67 -'68? Or do you mean a '69.
I'm skeptical of those sizes on a stock '67',68 that has a 2" drop and no wheel well mods.

Tracyracy- Is that with front disks? Because I've heard that with drums 4.5 inch bs is better?
Thanks,
