Looking for any information on tire/rim sizes for a '69. I am updating the look of the car and going with a set of Torgue thrust II's. I have seen a bunch of 17" set-ups in the mags but never any 18's. Looking at putting 17x8's with 4.5 backspacing on the front with 245/45/17 Eagle F1 GS and 18x9.5 with 4.75 backspacing on the rear with 275/40/18 Eagle F1 GS. I know the fronts will clear but the rear is the question. I can get another inch in tire height with the 18's and I think that look would kill. They are only about 1/2"-3/4" wider that if I ran 275/40/17 on the rear. Any info would help. I know there has been some talk but not with 18's and not on a '69.
Thanks.

The wheel you mention in 18" only comes as a 10" wide not 9.5. As for the tire it will be the same as the 275/40/17 in actual section width. Use the 10 @ 5.75" bss. I have sucesssfully ran 20x10" TT II's on the rear of 69"s with the above mentioned bss.

Thank you Tracyracy for the reply. With the 20's, what size tire did you run and what brand? I love the thought of 20's but in Ohio we don't have the best of roads. Although I only drive the car during the summer, winter has a tendecy to take a toll on the pavement, need a little sidewall but would love the extra tire height since I am seriously looking at a 465hp small block(ZZ430 tweeked). More tire to hook the better. By the way, heard anything about the Chevy dealer in Oregon doing the ZZ430 and their version, the ZZ450? I am ready to pull the trigger on the 450 (which is the 430 tweeked). Thanks again!

a new guy just posted in the Performance section introducing himself... he is running 18'' up front and 20'' out back on a '69! His user id is "boilermaker."
