What is the big differnce between chrome and polished wheels and dress parts. There is a good price differnce but with online pictures you cna tell the differnce and i wouldnt know if i saw either on a car i would just say they were chrome.

You can tell the difference. Polished is a piece of aluminum or steel or other metal that has just been polished to give it a shiny looks. Chroming is actually a process where the part is dipped in a bath, causing an electronic reaction where the chrome sticks to the metal being dipped. Now that said, you can do polishing with some very basic tools in your garage or workshop. Chroming is a different story, and must be done by a special shop. The price reflects it. Now, personally, I run polished wheels on my car, and everybody says, "wow, chrome rims!" So if people don't know what they are looking for, they probably won't know. Polished pieces do have more upkeep to keep them looking almost as shiny as chrome.

chrome plated steel wheels will usually rust and are going to be heavier than alluminum, chromed alluminum wheels don't need to be polished periodically to remove oxidation and look abit more like a mirror finish
