: installed new tires and rims

Just mounted new TTII's on my 69, and thought I'd add my info to the database here, since I pretty much used this site exclusively to figure out what would fit.

I have installed 16x8 with 4.75" back spacing with 245-50-16(kumho ecsta) all the way around. The rear could have gone a little bigger but I wanted the same tires all the way around. The 4.75 put it just about dead center in the rear.

This size should also give me a little room to work with when I convert to disk brakes.

The fronts were a little more tricky, I had to grind about 1/16 off the outer tie-rod corners about 3/8 in len to avoid touching under full suspension travel. I also have the longer steering arms, the shorter ones would probably not have this issue.

So far I have had absolutely no rubbing anywhere, but my turning radius is greater then stock due to the '91 trans-am steering box I have installed.

I also have hotchkis springs front and rear so it sits lower then stock.

thanks to everyone who has posted info on this subject here, I read many, many posts before selecting the size, and it made a big difference.

I bet the stance looks awesome! I'm looking at a similar set-up 245/45/16 up front and 255/50/16 out back with 14" front 13" back disk brakes do you think all this rubber would fit under a 67 camaro?

the stance is very cool! I like the old style scca trans-am look

from the posts that I've read the 67/68 have a little less room then the 69, but the sizes you have stated should be fine, however, i don't think disk brakes that large will fit with a 16" rim

Marc,

Those rims sound nice. Any chance you could post a couple pics? Jon

sure, here you go Jon,

its still a work in progress, there are some pics of the old tires, but all pics are with the hotchkis springs, and I haven't installed the center caps yet.

The 14"/13" rotors I thought would purchase from BEAR or some other aftermarket performance brake shop.
