What is the function of the spring wrapped around each of the wheel drums on my 69. I've purchased new aftermarket drums and they don't have this spring.....Scott

i believe its there for vibration dampining, not sure though

They are for heat dissapation, they give more serface area to the drum, and move the air around the drum more.
