I found this picture a year or so ago and would like to know what size tires are on this sweet 69. This is the combo I want. Does any one have an idea what size these tires might be? How about the rims? Where can I get a set of these? I posted this pic on my page. http://www.geocities.com/sixt7ssrs/midway.html

They look like American Racing's Torque Thrust II's in about a 15X7" size, front and rear. The best price I found on these has been from http://www.wheelsforless.com/

The tires look to be in the 225/60-15 range, possibly a 235/60-15 in the rear, hard to tell.

I'm guessing they are 16" wheels. IMO, they look bigger than 15's, and not quite as low a profile as the 17's on my 69.

I may have that issue of Super Chevy at home. I'll check and see and post if I can find it.

I think they are either 16" or a 16/front 17/rear combo.

Nice car!

That is sweet. The profile looks like a 50 or so series. I'd be interested in the conclusion of this thread.

I am running a very similar combo... 16'' TT2 wheels with 50 series rubber. Mine doesn't look quite as cool because the "stock replacement" springs have left my car with a less hunkered down stance. Check it out.

They have got to be 17s. Those rims are pretty big. I am wondering if the tires are so wide in the back if they had to move the leaf springs inboard at all. I will print a picture and bring it in to The Tire Store this week sometime. I will see what they have to say. ;)

they look very similar to my 245x50x16 TT2's on my '69, unfortunatly right now thats about all thats similar http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif So I'm voting: TT2's at 16" 50 series, 235 front, 255 rear

I'm working on getting the pics more clear on there. The pics got reduced in size and got crappy looking.

I'm running 17x8 with 4.75" BS and 245/45/17's on the front and 17x9.5 with 5.5" BS and 275/40/17's in the rear. They are Budnik Arrowhead wheels. The wheels and tires are incredible. The pics don't do them justice. The pics I have posted show the car sitting downhill, so it's a little decieving, it looks like the rear is higher than the front. The car sits level. I'll have to take some more pics soon with the car on level ground.

Did you have any modifications to make the tires and rims fit? ie moving the leaf sprungs in or anything? How about the front tire rubbing?

Nope, no rubbing. I haven't got to drive it too much with these wheels and tires yet, the weather isn't cooperating in Minnesota. http://www.camaros.net/forum/mad.gif The rears easily clear the leafs and shocks, and the fronts aren't rubbing either. It's my understanding that the rears might rub the inner fender wells when the body rolls like when going into a driveway at an angle. I should have a lot more details in a month.

What do you boys think of the Colorado Custom- Lazear wheels??? Think they would look better tahn the A/R TT 2 rims?

I can order them with or without that 'flutie' look on the spokes...do you think they will look better with or without that 'flutie' look on the spokes? I've gota dark green metallic 67 F-body lowered 2 inches.

I really want to go with 18's but from what I understand BF G and Nitto only make a drag radial in 275 for a 17 inch rim. Does anyone make a 275/50or60/18 Drag radial tire???

Those look like the wheels on my car: http://www.geocities.com/sdenning1/index3.html
I'm running 17x7 and 17x8 rims with 4" BS and 245/45/17 and 255/45/17 BFG Comp T/As. Everything fits fine and no rubbing.

I also wanted the 17x9-1/2 wheels and 275 tires. However, the section width is 11" and the inside space in the wheelwell is only 11-3/4" With only 3/8" on each side IF they're centered - there's not much room for error. I really hate having tires that rub so I went down one size.

Rockey, nice! Yours are A/R Torque Thrusts 2 though right???

Another nice rim thats out are the A/R Hopsters. They look much nicer upclose than they do in the magazines or on their website. Don't now if they offer custom spacing on them though http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif

That first pic at the beginning of the thread looks like the wheels on the back are bigger than the front. Possibly 17" rear, 16" front?

69protouring, have you lowered your car or is it stock ride height? I am just finishing my 68 and have Centerline 17s with same tire sizes and back spacing as your Budniks, but my tires look way to short for my car. Im concidering going to 27" tall tires, Im not sure if I want to lower it.

Kamer068, the front coils have been cut 3/4 of a coil to lower it 1" The pics are decieving, the car normally sits level, but it's sitting downhill in these pics. Maybe this weekend I can take a few more shots to show it better.

Hey V8,

Just so that you know. Unless you have done some major mods, a 275/50 or 60/18 would never fit. THat is way to high of a profile tire. First off, I don't think there is anyone who makes an 18 inch tire higher than 45 series for a car. Not to mention, in a first gen, you have to run a 275/40/17 to get it to fit. So a higher sidewall with an inch more wheel is the wrong way to go.

If you truely want 18's(a little too much for drivability IMO), go with an 18x8 in front with a 245/35/18, and then in the back run an 18x9.5 with a 275/35/180. This should allow you to run those monster wheels without much moding to your car. You may still have to roll the fender lip.

Go to www.pro-touring.com (http://www.pro-touring.com) and look under the cars section. In the 69 listing you will see this car with the details. It is posted that they are 17x8 in the front and 17x10 rears

Dans67, thanks for the headsup. The 50/60 sidewall was a typo(I'm not sure what I was thinking) on my part...that is way to big!
I have 235/40/18's with Nitto 555's on my daily driver currently and they not only look great but drive very well. I did bend 2 rims when I had Pirelli P7000 with smaller side walls(35), but once i moved up to 40's by Nitto- the 18 inch wheels have been perfect- so I'm not too worried about them, other than the fact I don't think a 18 inch drag radial exists(?)-Chris

Would 255/40/18's on a 18x8 rim and 275/40/18's on a 18x9.5 rim be a problem? I anticipate some light lock to lock rubbing, but I think thatwheel setup should work.

MarkM
Apr 7th, 02, 06:19 PM
V8, I think that wheel will work fine. 5.25" backspacing front, 5.5" rear.
