I have one on my ’89 502 powered Suburban, on the back of a turbo 400. Works great and shifts hard. I drive it very hard....no problems.

What is it? Are you going to use it on your '68? Got any info? Sounds interesting.

What modifications do you have to make to put one in? I know they make an overdrive that bolts on to a Muncie. I still have a set of 4.10 gears.

These units work great. You change tailshafts on your tranny and shorten your driveline. It enables you to split every gear, under or over. That way, you can have a low rear gear and low hiway rpm. They are bullet proof, too. I've seen them on the drag strips and at Bonnevile salt flats. I know someone who has a used one for sale for a turbo 400 trans.

Topless, I just got off the phone with the guy with a Gear Vendoe unit. He still has it but is going to have it rebuilt and keep it. He had it behind a cummins diesel in a chevy one ton. It has 187,000 miles on it but needs rebuilding. Great units. I can give you his name maybe you can talk him out of it. He said used ones are hard to come by. Everyone keeps them. The units are all the same, you just change the adapter to fit any tranny. By the way, he is a dealer for them.
