I want to get a set of 17" wheels for my 69. i have the stock front suspension disk brakes, and a 9" disk rear with stock multileafs. i have 15x3.5" up front on 165's and 15x8.5 in the back on 245/60's

what backspacing and offset would i need to clear 17's. i dont' want the same size up front, i want it to be scrub free. i just put in power steering gearbox standard ratio so i don't need the skinnies anymore. and the back my tire looks squeezed in there as it is. also would rolling the rear fenderlip be a must. if so what are some tips on doing that. thanks.

Rogleete,

Generally speaking, "offsets" for the front, on a 17x8 wheel, would be 4-3/4.

For the rear, assuming a 17x 9.5 wheel with rear disc, the correct offset would be 5-1/2.
BUT, considering the different rear you've got back there, I can't say with certainty that the rear offsets would be correct.

I just answered some guy about a putting 18" wheels on his buddies '69 last week. I listed all of the backspacing, wheel width and height. Maybe that will help.
