Just brought new wheels rallies. The guy was real helpful but the wheels are 8 by 4 1/4 backspacing instead of 4.5.?Was told thats how they come.Box says the same. All I hear about 4.5. does this make sence.Waiting for the fronts 7with 4inch back spacing.Nice wheel though crome rally with center caps.

There are several manufacturers-- I run 15x8 4.5bs wheel vintique rally's on my street tires, but have american racing 15x8 4.25bs for my slicks-- I think you'll be fine either way-- I actually wanted the 4.25 on the slicks for additional inside clearance. -Dan

Thanks just wondering why I hear 4.5 all the time.I hope they don't set out too far under the wheel lip.Have hotchis 3 leafs new 12 bolt hope this won't set my car on top of wheels rubbing or boucing of of them 67.Can't wait to bolt everything up.

what size tire are you running,I'm running 276/60 on 4.5 BS on my 67 with the same spring as you.Started with 4" BS and the wheels stuck out to far for me ,with the 4.5BS side wall of the tire is flush with Qter.I think on 67/68 you should use 4.5BS with that size tire, seems like 4BS is fine on 69's

For reference regarding my earlier post, I'm on 255/60r15's on the 4.5bs, and 28x9 m/t slicks on the 4.25bs... I don't have any pics of it with the slicks, but here is with the 255's... -Dan

68sixspeed,
DAMN! That's a nice car!
I am totally envious of that tranny, too.
My 502 with the T400 and 4:11's is BEGGING for that!!!

3,500 @ about 70-75, ugh...and that's on 275/60x15's.

I just put the 15x8 4.5 BS wheels with the 255 and 235 tire combo on my '69. It fits with no rubbing, but rear clearance is about as tight as you can get without rolling the fenders. I don't think the 4.25 BS wheel will work with these tires if you want to keep stock or lowered rear ride height.

68ss454 - thanks for the compliment-- tranny- do it; love it; Richmond 6 speed, 3.01 1st; .62 overdrive, ford 9" with 4.10's; 2200rpm @ 70. Even helps the gas mileage! (14 vs 10!)

FastFred- 255/60r15's on the rear, 15x8's 4.5bs; 215/65r15 front on 15x7's. Vette brakes rear leafs- 1.5-2" drop; front is on coil-overs and is definately set lower 2+ drop? I can measure to the wheel well moulding if it helps. -Dan

68Sixspeed, how did you drop the rear leafs? Did you use lowering blocks or re-arch the springs? I have the Vette Brake springs and would like to drop them about 1 1/2-2 inches.

The rear end is a Ford 9" mounted by a 4 link with floater housings on the leafs-- I think the large tube diameter of the 9" and the floaters did most of the drop. If yours are high, I'd get them de-arched, or if it's only an inch, try a lowering block.

Hey- is it me, or are those springs a little "stiff"?

I am just getting mine back on the road. I have maybe 5 miles on it so far. I have 245/50/16's on the back and 225/55/16's on the front with poly bushings and the bigger sway bar and it does seem pretty stiff. This was the Vette Brake Camaro package. I have Firestone SZ50 tires.

Yeh, I had started with that kit almost 10 years ago... front end sat way to high, I hope they got that corrected. I wasn't pleased with the front end height, so I went to coil-overs. Good luck with it... your not low enough until you need to worry about speed bumps and dragging!! -Dan

I can't see where a 1/4" difference in BS would make that much of a difference.

I am running 15x8 4.25" BS with 255/60/15 tires and it is fine. I need to de-arch the springs about 1.5" to suite my taste but it is fine.

C Funk that's what I was thinking too 1/4 makes that much differince.May it puts the wheel outward 1/4 but the lip.Hope it does not but brought them because the owner suggested that. Do you have a 67? I do and the wheel set up is different than 68 69.Have drop springs 1 1/2 hopes this works.I' get back when I get a chance to finish bolting everything up.Little tuff one man installing frame connetors new springs and new 12 bolt.Thats thing heavy.LOL Springs alot of fun too.Old bushings to new.

Fastfred I feel your pain. I just finished putting the upper & lower control arms back on the front and am almost finished putting in my new rear end in a garage thats so small I have to go outside to change my mind! I was hoping that someone on this thread would post something definitively on what the max size tire would work with 15 x 7 with a 4.25 bs for a 67 or 68 Camaro. Any help would be great.

Thanks
