Are you guys running 4.5 BS on the front because it is not a custom offset? I want to put a 17 x 8 with a 5.0 BS 245/45/17 on the front. I have read from the archives that MarkM runs a 5.25 BS with some rubbing at full turn. I am not sure if he is running discs or drums. I know with a disc brake it you should account for .200". I will be converting to discs this month. Need to order my rims this week. Unfortunately I know nobody in Toronto with a first gen camaro and worst, all the wheel guys up here know nothing but rice burners so i don't want to make a mistake.

Around here a 8 inch wheel with 4.5 bs is typical what most wheel and tire shops keep in stock.I wouldnt say "not custom" offset, but common offset.
For the record I run 17x8's with 4.5 bs front and rear on my 69.245/45-17 front and 275/40-17's rear.I've never had a problem with tires rubbing anyplace. And for brakes...I have Corvette C4 calipers and brackets on my drum spindles and hubs.Honestly if you have any doubts I suggest taking some measurements and even callng the wheel manufacturer.Nothing sucks more than tires that rub and cut sidewalls.Good Luck

Thanks for your reply Tom. As a minimun I think a 4.75 BS will work from the posts I've read on the forum. Does your 69 have more room than a 67?
Are there any other opinions out there?

A 7" wheel might work well for you too. A 235/40 fits pretty well on one. Then you can get about 4.25" bs, but not have to worry about your tire hitting the frame.

Thanks for replying MarkM. If i have to,I will go to the smaller tire on a 8" rim. What are your thoughts of 245/45/17 with 5" BS and a disc brake? I want to drop the front end, just below the top of the tire. From the pictures of seen of your car, the ride height I want to be at, is slighlty lower. Then again I don't know how recent those pics were.

You want to be lower in the front then my car? Good luck, http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif . There really isn't anymore room to get the car any lower then it is right now, unless you go with a smaller tire and wheel. There is minimal clearance between the tire and the inner fender, where the inner fender bolts to the outer fender. I actually had to remove a few of the bolts that the two bolt together with, and then hammer the area up and out some.

If you want your car lower then mine. Get a 7" wheel with 5" bs. That will get your tire as far away from the fender as possible, where there is more inner fender clearance.
