Anyone running similiar size? MarkM Dec 1st, 02, 12:22 PM I tried an 8" wheel on the front of my 68 before, with a 225/40 17. It stuck out about an 1" to far, IMO. So in a word, "No". http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif ------------------ 68 468 700R4, and here it is; mutert23 (http://home.earthlink.net/~mutert23/) NC69RS Dec 1st, 02, 12:26 PM So are you saying that no 8" wheel will look good or just the 4" backspacing. Thanks! camcojb Dec 1st, 02, 01:16 PM It may look okay, but won't fit inside the wheelwell. You need 4.75-5" b.s. on a 17X8" front wheel. MarkM Dec 2nd, 02, 05:30 AM Yeah I meant the 4" bs. I think you need between 4.75-5.25" to look good. RockyMtnRacer Dec 2nd, 02, 06:24 AM I have 17x7 and 17x8 TTIIs with 4" bs on my '69. They fit fine but I do not think the 8's would fit on the front unless they have more bs. ------------------ Scott '69 400SB, Richmond 5-speed www.geocities.com/sdenning1 (http://www.geocities.com/sdenning1) chicane67 Dec 2nd, 02, 08:24 AM <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by jenndon: I'm running 18x8 with 4.5" bs and a 245/40/18. That's a very nice car. Jody ------------------ MY CAMARO (http://www.camcojb.com) 69ProTouring Dec 2nd, 02, 05:55 PM Really, Jody? Now what fun would that be? You might just as well mini-tub it and do the works. Well, ok, maybe that's my opinion, but that is a beautiful car you have. JT, I'm still thinking about Woodward! Seems to fit fine. If the wheels were 7" width, then they would probably work, but not the 8". Patrick pwoolford Dec 10th, 02, 02:54 AM Hey CrossRamZ11, Incredible car so far! You are using Centerline Lazers? I cannot find them anywhere. I am also restoring a 69 convertible and want to stuff as much rubber under it as I can but the selection of 17" rims with proper back spacing is not too good. At least everytime I find a nice looking rim they don't offer it for mine. CrossRamZ11 Dec 10th, 02, 04:56 AM pwoolford, Here is to the rim of the Centerline site: http://www.centerlinewheels.com/w_catalog/sundansp.html and here is a picture of the wheel... http://www.centerlinewheels.com/w_catalog/751.jpg ------------------ 1969 "Touring" Pace Car, Full Hotchkis Suspension, Bilstein Shocks, AGR Steering, 352CI Dynoed 470hp/430Tq - Winston Cup Airbox, 18X9-18X8 Centerline Lazers, Baer Track Brakes w\Eradispeed Rotors. I have drums on all four now but latter on want to up grade to disk on all four. If i got rims first will the bs work on both are they alittle different. thanks Brian grey899 Dec 11th, 02, 10:42 AM >>>are the back spaceing the same for disk and drum brakes.<<< No. For drum only brakes the most corrct "backspace" would 5-1/4 on a 17x9.5 wheel. For disc, you'd go with 5-1/2 backspace. So basically you'd want to increaser your backspace by 1/4" for disc vs drum. grey899 camcojb Dec 11th, 02, 12:25 PM Above is true but if you're going to be running discs in the future get the 5.5" backspacing and run 1/4" spacers if need be. If you don't you'll have rubbing problems on the outer wheelwells when you swap to discs. On the front the 4.75" backspacing will work with either drums or disc. Jody ------------------ MY CAMARO (http://www.camcojb.com) CamaroJSU Dec 11th, 02, 12:42 PM Thanks guys for the info. I want get the AR tt 2 17x8 in front and the 17x9 in the back. thanks again. Brian pdq67 Dec 11th, 02, 03:04 PM Oh, BTW, stock steel, dog-dish hubcap rims are 14" x 6" with 3.75" b/s so go from there. It will start you out with the stock outer lip fit, then just adjust b/s to fit wider tires! pdq67 Big Sky 68Z28 Dec 12th, 02, 08:21 AM Crossram, are you running 8's in rear too? I really like the look of those 18's. what are the exact tire sizes and back spacing for the front and rear? CrossRamZ11 Dec 12th, 02, 06:18 PM Thanks, The fronts are 18X8 w/ 4.75 BS 235/40-18 The rears are 18X9 w/ 5.5 BS 255/45-18 I have Baers Eradispeed rotors which pushes the rear wheel another .25 inch outward. They fit great, front and rear. ------------------ 1969 "Touring" Pace Car, Full Hotchkis Suspension, Bilstein Shocks, AGR Steering, 352CI Dynoed 470hp/430Tq - Winston Cup Airbox, 18X9-18X8 Centerline Lazers, Baer Track Brakes w\Eradispeed Rotors.
