Looking to purchase new trim rings for my 67. I see you can purchase a set of 15 X 7 for $79 or original GM trim rings for $59 each. This is through Ricks First Gen.
WHy the huge price difference? Paying for the name "GM"? Do reproductions last as long and keep the shine as long? The car is not a daily driver. This price gap seems to apply to many different reproduction parts. I want to save as much money as I can but want the parts to last. Any direction on this would be appreciated.

I just put a new set of GM trim ring's on my 67 mine are 14 + 6 , a couple year's ago I bought a set of the $79 repo's from rick's for my other 67 , they look about the same the outer lip is different but other than that you could not tell them apart , I dont think it is worth that much extra to get the GM one's , a guy gave me my GM's or I would have got another set of repo's

I too am happy with the quality of the repros. I got mine from The Paddock. I live close and they had 'em in stock.

No problems yet with my repros either. (Except i mismeasured and bought ones 1/2 inch too wide) I'll be buying another set this spring and they wont be GM.

I found the repo trim rings to be a great buy. I like the way they go on so easy. The Original GM rings used to be a pain in the butt to install. I have had two sets of the repo's on two different cars. Unless this is a 100 point restoration I would use the repops. They look great and they lasted many years without any problems.
