My 1969 Camaro has 1/2" thread axle studs and one has stripped out and needs replaced. Unfortunately, I am unable to find any 1/2" studs for it. Apparently in 1969 they were 7/16" not 1/2". The parts counter guy was less than helpful....so I put my trust in you guys:

Where can I find 1/2" studs? They can't be as rare as the parts counter guy insinuated...can they? Did GM put 1/2" studs in any other axles in later years? The car was a drag car for many years and still has some other drag components on it. Could it be it has aftermarket axles in a GM 12 bolt? Any way to tell?

Punch the old stud out and take it to you parts store to match it.That is the best way Mr. :cool: Nick

I got my 1/2" studs from Jegs, they have both screw in and press in.

Do you have a NAPA anywhere close?

When I needed studs they had a book that showed all the demisions of a bunch of wheel studs. The diameter, knurl, length etc. It made finding what I wanted really easy.

MRCOOL- I took the stud to my local parts store and the counter jockey wasn't able to find any studs that were the same size.

Mark- I will try NAPA....they have a store close by. Unfortunately they keep strange hours...strange in that whenever something breaks they are always closed!!
