I was wondering. Doing a brake conversion on my 68, (had drums and converting to 69 disc). Will 14 in. rims fit the front. I have 14 x 6 ralleys for the front and 15's for the back. I tried the 15's in the front and they rubbed my frame. I since am doing a suspension upgrade to stock height. Any advise would be appreiciated.

Yes, that is a very common configuration. 15" ralleys in the rear and 14" in the front. I have cars with both setups. I like 15X7 for the front, but they can rub depending on the tire you use. I lowered my front 1" on that car.

Thanxs doug67
Havent gotten it back together yet, just wanted to stomp any fires before they started. i really dont want to get into lowering. The whole project started because of week springs and I didnt like that lowered look, sorry people, it aint my cup of tea. I am not racing just a cruiser. Do you have Disc in the front and does it rub?

You may have some problems with the calipers clearing the 14" wheels. If you get the proper offset, you should not have any problems with 15" wheels rubbing.

Have wondered about the issue of 14" rally wheels and converting to disc brakes on the front. My Chevrolet by tht Numbers book states that, for 1969, Chevy used 14x6JJ rims, which have .50 offset, for camaros w/ D/B ex. SS models. Couldn't I then, use my drum brake 14x6JK wheels, with .26 offset and add 1/4" spacers for use w/ a disc conversion?? Hope someone has worked this issue. Thanks, Rob

I've tried three different coded 14"x6" RALLY wheels on my 67 with 69 calipers and they all clear.
However, 14"x6" slotted American aluminum MAGs or Ansen aluminum MAGS will definitely NOT fit over the 69 calipers.

Just a data point:
My XN 14x6's will not clear the caliper on my MP disc brake kit in the front.

I thought about putting the calipers and spindels together on the bench. Then bolting the wheel up and see how it fits. Trust me i have done dumber things to get the job done! I have the wheels off and will have to get the codes. Is there a site that would give you the codes for which car they went on? I like the ralleys and think that they are the best looking stock rim to ever come out! I have never spaced a wheel, would this make them stick out? Thanks for the advice in advance!

The codes are located next to the valve stem. Pull the trim ring and post the codes in the "Tag Team" forum.
