Seems like good prices to me, far better than $1000 ea for Fiske etc. Anyone have opinions on Colorado Customs??

Man! I paid $550 for ALL FOUR of my Centerline Billet Telestars. Of course they are only 15 inches in diameter.

I just paid $311 apiece for 18x8 American Racing Wheels Hopster model chromed or $276 polished!

HOT OHC-----Your car is Sweet!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif I have always heard that there were OHC enthusiasts out there....it's just so nice to see people resist the "stroker mind-set" and choose an alternative engine....it's too bad I can't hear that thing rev.

Anyway back to wheels.....I am on a severe "wife-restricted" budget :rolleyes: so I had to go with used, but in my opinion cool wheels.....I got a set of '89 Turbo TA Pace Car wheels and 245/50/16 tires for $350.00/set.

I would have went with 17" or 18" Torque Thrust's before the other 1,200 first gen owners bought them... tongue.gif tongue.gif Don't get me wrong the Torque's look great on the 1st gen's, but they are way too common now..

Richz68- Hey thanks for the compliment. Well my motor is a stroker too :D Yes it does have a unique exhaust note. With open headers no one can believe it's a straight 6 making all that noise.

Bret, those are some of the cheapest prices I've seen on 18x12 wheels.

That wheel looks like a knock-off of a Budnik Famosa Dish (http://www.budnik.com/roadwheeldetail.asp?scid=56&pid=529&pg=1) which IMO, is a very nice wheel. I say go for it, then let me know how you like it. :D

Not a bad price. Those have been out quite some time though, if that's an issue. As far as Colorado Custom wheels, those are probably the only design they have that I like, smile.gif .

Well, I alos posted this at http://pro-touring.com also but haven't gotten much feedback. I agree it's a great price for that sized wheel, I'm just a little leary about it since I have yet to run across someone running them.

Mark I agree with you, that style is about the only one I like. I also like the TTII's but it seems everyone has them and they aren't available 12" wide.

$600 for my (4), 17" x 8", Mustang Bullitt's from Summit. The medium silver ones with the polished outer lip.

It did cost me some to redrill everything and add 1/2" studs but what the hey, I LOVE their looks and the price is right, IMHO...

And I got stronger lugs ta boot...

What is the backspacing on the Bullit wheels? I believe I have found replicas for 172$ a wheel for 17x8 with shipping on a 120.65mm lug space which is 4-3/4.

A few weeks ago I found a set of '89 Turbo TA Pace Car wheels w/245-50-16 tires for $350 at a junk yard nearby. When I went to pick them up they were gone!!! :( I was bummed, because I am building this car on a REALLY TIGHT budget. I didn't think I would run across a deal like that again for 16" & up wheels and tires.

I picked myself up and started looking again and noticed Tylers '68 "50/50" project and really liked the way the C5 wheels looked. graemlins/thumbsup.gif After a couple of weeks of looking I just bought a set for $225.00 !! They are 18"x9.5" & 17"x8.5". I still needed tires....... luckily I have a good friend who works for one of the large tire manufacturers and told him about my project and he offered a set of "test" tires for FREE !!! They will have 500 miles on them but still.

I am a tenacious bargain hunter, but this was too good to be true.....well now I need to find a source for spacers and I'll be set..... :D

Any ideas????

I'm not certain of the bs on those rims, but I think you will need adaptors rather than spacers due to the large difference. Check www.vettebrakes.com (http://www.vettebrakes.com) for adaptors. They're on page 49 of the catalog-and they aren't cheap! :eek:

My rear wheels are 9.5" wide(total rim width is 10", with a 275/40-18 tire mounted the total width is 11").

I will need to test fit the 18's with the tires mounted because the distance from the inner wheelhousing to the inner edge of the quarter lip is 12 1/8".

I think with a precisely measured spacer the wheels will fit as long as the lips are rolled. When I refer to "spacers" I am not inending on using a five holed washer, but a machined spacer basically just like the adapters, but with the same pattern from hub to wheel.

The 17" front wheels are are only 8.5" wide, and really should be no problem at all.

I will have to do some shoe-horning, but I know it can be done.

Where are you located in Ohio? I am in NE near Summit Racing! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I was under the impression those wheels would have somewhere in the neighborhood of 6.5-7" of bs and everyone here is running 5.5 or less soooo.

I was assuming the "spacer" would need to be 1" or thicker and I've heard that it's best to go with an adaptor at that point??? Less stress on the lugs. etc. I haven't messed with any of it myself though.

I'm in SW OH, Carlisle to be exact. About 20 miles south of Dayton. I've been through your area a few times on the way to visit the wife's family in Cleveland, haven't been able to manage a "quick stop" at Summit yet since it's a little out of the way.
