I'M LOOKING FOR A SET OF FRONT TIRES FOR MY 67 CAMARO. I WANT TIRES THAT WILL WORK WILL ON THE STREET AS WELL AS ON THE 1/4 MILE. I WANT TO RUN SOMETHING AROUND A 225/70/15 ON A 7" RIM. ANYBODY GOT A RECOMMENDATION SUCH AS BRAND AND TYPE? graemlins/clonk.gif

Are you fixed on a 70 series tire? I would recommend a 215/60/15. This is good for handling on the street (as long as you don't plan on carving any corners) and is flexible enough for the track. Just my .02.
I've always had good luck with BFG Radial TA's, but I'm sure you might get some different opinions.

If you go by the book looking for something for the 1/4 try deciding on front tires looking at the manufacturers websites for tire weight not size. A long time ago studies showed aerodynamic drag of bigger tires in the front was no real difference. It's the tires weight that makes the difference up front. If you are really hard up for 1/4 mile time via weight loss hehehe take the tires you want to use only for drag down to a retread place and have them shave them down to whatevers the minimum legal. Stock car rims can loose you a lot of weight also. I didn't tell you that right :D
The only real focus I can think of is watch the weight of the tire since you are sticking with your rims. I've got 235/60/14's up front and 295/50/15's in the rear. Good luck blowing doors off.

As a former Iowan, I suggest 165SR-15 (Volkswagen front tires) on an alum rim, 15X5.
