I have 411's in the rear of my 69 thats a little too radical for me (high rpms, but great takeoff)
Im thinking of putting 70's on my 8 in ralleys on the rear. Im thinking of 235/70 r15. Can anyone recomend a tire size? I also think my current 235/60 15's on the back look kinda small.
Thanks in advance

I have the same problem. I have 255's now and need to go taller but I can't find anything reasonable. Let me know how you make out with the 70's on the rear.

My car came stock with D/70-14 Redlines that are about 25.3" to 25.5" in dia.
I installed Firestone 9.50-14 Town&Country Mud&Snow tires on it to wade through mud and snow when I worked on the RR as well as to up the top end.
They were like 29" to 29.5" in dia. AND will fit but you have to put them on the same steel rims that our cars came with to center them in the stock location in the wheel well plus I used coil-overs to raise my car up like 4" or so...
I could barely get my finger between the front and back of the wheel well and tire!!
Speed went from about 70mph at 3050 to 3075rpm to about 82!!
I got pulled over one night just after dark and my old Trooper Buddy told me I was running right at 82 when my speedometer said 70mph!!!
He, He!! AND that was when we had to run 65mph after dark!!!!
My Buddy to this day that I worked with way back then gave me a pic. of four of us from the track gang standing next to my car dated like Jan. '67 with the big M&S's on it!!

That's the reason why Im thinking of putting 70's on the rear so my car's not screaming all the time. Id rather do this than re-do my rear which I just had done. Ive seen pictures of some other 69's with 235/70's and it looks great. Im just wondering if they will fit on 15x8 rims ok.
